WARD, Lorene Ann Born January 15, 1933 – January 19, 2026. Aged 93 years.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Lorene Ann Ward (nee Nastrom), who left us peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 93 years.
She was born on January 15, 1933, in Roblin, Manitoba, where she spent her early years surrounded by family and friends. She lived a full and vibrant life, building a home. Her hands were rarely still, whether tending to her garden or getting ready for her next adventure.
She married Earl Ward in 1948, and together they raised a loving family. She was always the first to lend a hand, and she taught us the importance of kindness, community, and never taking ourselves too seriously.
She was instrumental in the community and the town of Roblin, dedicating countless hours to various clubs and community groups. Her involvement included the Roblin and District Hospital Auxiliary, Rebekah’s Lodge, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Crocus Trail Committee, and she was a key contributor to the opening of the Roblin 50 and Over Club. Her commitment to these organizations and many others reflected her deep sense of community and her desire to make a positive impact on those around her. Lorene was awarded Citizen of the Year in 1992.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (John), Randy, daughter-in-law, Brenda, and her sisters Greta and Joyce. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other close family members and friends. Lorene was predeceased by her husband, Earl; her two sons, Larry and Brian; and her granddaughter, Billie-Jo.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her memory lives on in every lesson she taught us and every moment we shared. We take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
A Funeral Service in memory of Lorene was held January 27, 2026, at the Roblin Knox United Church with Marg West officiating. Interment followed at the Roblin & District Cemetery. Memorial Donations in memory of Lorene can be made to the Roblin District Community Foundation for the Crocus Court Personal Care Home.
