Wilna "Willie" Styba Obituary

STYBA, Wilna Born November 6, 1940 ~ January 31, 2026. Aged 85 years.

It is with heavy hearts and so much love that we announce our beautiful Mom and Baba, Wilna Styba,  affectionately known as Willie, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Roblin Crocus Court Personal Care Home with family by her side.  She was 85 years young.

Wilna (or Weslyina, her given name), was born on November 6, 1940, to Michael and Effie (Kozak) Nykolaishyn at their home in the Hillsburg District.  She was the youngest of 8 which included Russell, Rosie, Annie, Nellie, Olga, Billy, and Margaret.

Growing up she attended North Cliff School where she met Mervin.  They got married in 1957, and were blessed with 3 children Lyndon, Shanna and Brian. They spent 51 years together before his passing in 2008.

Mom was the best mom any child could ever hope for.  She spoiled us all with lots of love, attention, gifts and delicious food all of our lives.  We were so blessed!  She loved to make perogies and they were the very best!!

Mom spent her whole life in Roblin. She never wanted to live anywhere else.  She held many jobs over her lifetime, but her favorite was at the Roblin District Health Centre as a Nurses Aide.  Later she went on to work at the Crocus Court Personal Care Home as the Activities Worker. She was truly the most caring, sweet and happy person and a ray of sunshine wherever she went.  She loved taking care of others but she was created to be a mother and baba. She was so wonderful and she thrived loving her family and taking care of all of us.

Mom loved music. She loved going to church and singing. Mom had joy. Her source of joy came from her faith in God.  Early In her 30s, as a young wife and mother, she accepted Jesus into her heart at a friendship bible coffee meeting and never looked back. She knew with Jesus at her side she had peace and that He would be her guide through life.  And He was.

Mom remained a very positive person despite losing her husband, son Lyndon and her two grandchildren Jasmine and Dustin. She was also predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings except for her sister Margaret (husband Norm).

She leaves behind daughter in law Kerri. Son Brian (wife Elsa), along with grandsons Seth (Ashley) and Josh (fiancé Sophie). Daughter Shanna and her husband Mel. Granddaughter Alana and her fiancé David. Mom also has in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews on both her and Dads side that will all miss her too.

A very special thank you to the home care nurses, nurses and healthcare aids, doctors and staff at the care home. Your love, help, and care to mom are sincerely appreciated by her family over the past few years. You enriched her life with your smile’s, giggles, and whistles.

Wilna was the best mom and baba. We will miss her. But we are thankful to God for blessing us with such a treasure.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at the NairnChyz-Wolkowski Funeral Chapel on Monday, February 9, 2026 with Pastor Randy Moffit officiating. Mom will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Roblin Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Flowers are gratefully declined. In memory of Wilna, donations can be given to Crocus Court Personal Care Home in Roblin.
